Playwrighting: "CAT4" a short play
July 11th, 7p PST
San Jose, CA - I'm honored to be returning to the annual AAPI Playwright Festival by Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS), now in it's third year!
This year I'll be contributing a 10-minute play!
Join us for an inspiring showcase of AAPI creativity and storytelling. The festival brings together original short plays and monologues by emerging and established AAPI playwrights, performed by a dynamic ensemble of AAPI actors. Celebrate the depth, humor, power, and originality of AAPI perspectives in theatre as we spotlight new voices and vibrant storytelling.
Acting:
The Eyes and the Impossible
by Dave Eggers
February 26th-March 15th, 2026
San Francisco, CA - Z Space and Word for WordPLAY present a bold new stage adaptation of Dave Eggers’ The Eyes & the Impossible (Chapters 1-6). The novel, a winner of the 2024 Newbery Medal for excellence in children’s literature, is described as "a lyrical, soulful book full of wit and passion...a timeless story for readers of all ages." The story takes you to the inner world of Johannes, a free and fast dog—and his job as the "eyes" of an urban park by the sea. Join him in his trials and tribulations as the equilibrium of the park is upset by an influx of humans, construction, and other animals. Experience the fully staged production on Z Space’s Steindler Stage, presented in classic Word for Word style.
Directing: Japantown Returnings
May 31st, 2pm + 6pm, 2025
Japantown San Jose, CA - I'm honored to be taking part in this event as a director! The Japanese American Museum of San Jose (JAMsj), Wesley United Methodist Church, and Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS) proudly present the world premiere of Japantown Returnings, an original theatrical staged reading with live musical accompaniment, commemorating 135 years of San Jose Japantown. I'm most excited to be helping shape the story as a tribute to honor the history that's taken place here in San Jose. And by history, I mean the resiliency of the people who helped nurture and build it to what it is now. Visit the event page to learn more about the program and to RSVP. I hope to see you there.

Multiverse of Gladness
TASI ALABASTRO is an Asian Pacific Islander and award-winning artist residing in California. Of the many things he believes in, he believes boredom is an essential part of the creative process and is always looking to explore that topic. He holds a special place in his heart for helping people bridge the gap between their ideas and execution; better 'done' than 'perfect' fuels his waking hours. He’s comfortable on-stage, on-camera, behind the camera, and wherever he might fit. That being said, he's also gained some weight during the Pandemic and tangentially learned which pants are better for work. Answer: None.
Recipient of the Silicon Valley Emerging Artist Laureate (2018) and the Leigh Weimer’s Emerging Artist Award (2019), Tasi has also been featured in the Silicon Valley Arts & Culture Magazine, CONTENT, and is a proud alumnus of the Multicultural Arts Leadership Institute (MALI). His work with Red Ladder Theatre Company involves facilitating workshops with marginalized communities; this includes incarcerated men and women in California Correction Facilities, Children on the spectrum, and homeless and runaway youth, all of which have been featured on KQED and Theatre Bay Area Magazine.
Tasi has also enjoyed the heck out of making content on Youtube, Twitch, and various social media platforms. His content and community can be described as goofy warm, casual, and oft-surprisingly insightful.
