Show: Manahatta
(
Understudy)

Feb 16th-Mar 10th, 2024

Aurora Theatre Company, CA - I'm joining the creative team as an understudy in Manahatta directed by Shannon Davis. This show also marks my first time working with Aurora Theatre Company! The show: "A young Lenape woman, Jane Snake, returns to her ancestral homeland, Manahatta, to work as a securities trader on Wall Street – the once walled street built by enslaved Africans to keep the Indigenous Lenape out. Set against the backdrop of the Occupy Wall Street movement and across time, Manahatta draws parallels between the forced removal, taxation, and fiscal impact on Native Americans during the 2008 financial crisis and the 1626 Dutch purchase of the island of Manahatta/Manhattan. Playwright Mary Kathryn Nagle (a citizen of the Cherokee Nation), teases the duality in Jane as she seeks to uncover her complicity in infrastructure designed to destroy her people; Jane’s career is thriving on “the island of many hills” (Manahatta in Lenape), while back home in Oklahoma, her mother and sister are grieving the loss of family, and struggling to maintain their culture, language, and their finances to stay in their over-mortgaged home."

Show: A Christmas Carol (A.C.T)

Dec 1st-Dec 24th, 2023

American Conservatory Theatre, CA - Returning for the final production of this version of A Christmas Carol, directed by Peter J. Kuo. "It’s been a long time since you last experienced A.C.T.’s celebrated production of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Featuring a lively cast of dozens, delightful music, gorgeous costumes, and those deliciously spooky ghosts, the Bay Area's favorite holiday tradition returns home. This version of A Christmas Carol—adapted by Paul Walsh and Carey Perloff—stays true to the heart of Dickens's timeless story of redemption and brings a playful sensibility to his rich language. A Christmas Carol is a decades-long cornerstone of the A.C.T. repertory and has become a holiday tradition for families all around the San Francisco Bay Area."

Show: A Christmas Carol (A.C.T)

Nov 30th-Dec 24th, 2022

American Conservatory Theatre, CA - I'm making my debut at A.C.T at the Toni Rembe Theater (formally The Geary) in A Christmas Carol, directed by Peter J. Kuo. Blog forthcoming! "It’s been a long time since you last experienced A.C.T.’s celebrated production of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Show: EVERY BRILLIANT THING

Sept 15th-Oct 16th, 2022

City Lights Theatre Company, CA - My first solo show! But it'll be presented as a bi-lingual production with fellow actor, Dane K. Lentz providing ASL (American Sign Language), directed by Lisa Malette!

"You’re six years old. Mom’s in the hospital. Dad says she’s “done something stupid.” She finds it hard to be happy. So you start to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world. Everything that’s worth living for. 1. Ice cream. 2. Kung Fu movies. 3. Burning things. 4. Laughing so hard you shoot milk out your nose. 5. Construction cranes. 6. Me. You leave it on her pillow. You know she’s read it because she’s corrected your spelling. Soon, the list will take on a life of its own. A play about depression that celebrates the world’s joys."

Show: VIETGONE

Mar 26th-Apr 24th, 2022

City Lights Theatre Company, CA - I've long desired to help share this story and I'm grateful to finally get a chance, and with an unbelievable team! "It’s 1975, Saigon has fallen, and Quang and Tong should be grateful they’ve made it to the United States. But he lost his wife and she lost her brother. And Arkansas is way too weird. In this irreverent comedy told in Qui Nguyen’s audacious style, these two Vietnamese refugees try to find their way home, wherever that is. In the process, they just might find each other. Modern hip-hop meets 1970s America in an exciting mashup of history and cultures."

Multiverse of Gladness

TASI ALABASTRO is an Asian Pacific Islander and award-winning artist residing in California. Of the many things he believes in, he believes boredom is an essential part of the creative process and is always looking to explore that topic. He holds a special place in his heart for helping people bridge the gap between their ideas and execution; better 'done' than 'perfect' fuels his waking hours. He’s comfortable on-stage, on-camera, behind the camera, and wherever he might fit. That being said, he's also gained some weight during the Pandemic and tangentially learned which pants are better for work. Answer: None.

Recipient of the Silicon Valley Emerging Artist Laureate (2018) and the Leigh Weimer’s Emerging Artist Award (2019), Tasi has also been featured in the Silicon Valley Arts & Culture Magazine, CONTENT, and is a proud alumnus of the Multicultural Arts Leadership Institute (MALI). His work with Red Ladder Theatre Company involves facilitating workshops with marginalized communities; this includes incarcerated men and women in California Correction Facilities, Children on the spectrum, and homeless and runaway youth, all of which have been featured on KQED and Theatre Bay Area Magazine.

Tasi has also enjoyed the heck out of making content on Youtube, Twitch, and various social media platforms. His content and community can be described as goofy warm, casual, and oft-surprisingly insightful.
